(NASHVILLE, IN) - A Nashville man was arrested early this morning for attacking a Columbus man with meat-tenderizing hammer following a night of playing cards.

45-year-old Kieth Barrett of Nashville was arrested on a felony charge of battery resulting in serious injury and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

44-year-old Scotty Bryant of Columbus awoke to Barrett attacking him with the hammer.

Police say that Bryant fled from the apartment in an attempt to get away from Barrett.

Barrett then slashed a tire on Bryant's vehicle.

Neither of the men lived in the apartment where the attack occurred.
