Two Arrested For Stealing Fence Gates, Selling Them To Amish

Last updated on Thursday, May 20, 2010

(PAOLI, IN) - Two Orange County were recently arrested for allegedly stealing fence gates from farms and selling them to Amish families.

19-year-old David Walker of French Lick, and 29-year-old Kyle Dalton of West Baden Springs have each been charged in the incident.

Police say that a farmer noticed suspicious activity on a farm and then reported it to police.

Orange County Sheriff Richard Dixon says "the involvement of the community is typically the factor that enables us to solve this type of crime."

He would like encourage all residents to report suspicious activity as soon as they notice it.

Dixon says that officers were able to locate 91 different gates that had been sold to the Amish, even though police only received reports of 44 that had been stolen.
