State Police Seeking Marijuana Growing Operations

Last updated on Monday, May 24, 2010

(UNDATED) - The Indiana State Police Marijuana Eradication Effort is searching for marijuana growers.

In the past, troopers have been successful in eliminating outdoor marijuana growing operations "but these days," troopers say, "growers have also reverted to indoor grow operations to avoid detection."

Police say that outdoor marijuana growers typically grow their plants on other people's property and within farmer's crops.

Indoors, they establish elaborate grow operations using artificial lighting, traditional planting methods and hydroponics within outbuildings and residential homes.

State police say that Indiana citizens have been instrumental in providing information on suspected marijuana growers, resulting in several arrests and convictions and they would like to encourage residents to report suspicious activity by calling the marijuana tip line at 888-873-1694 or 800-761-2985.
