Man Crashes Car Into George's Gateway Building

(BEDFORD, IN) - Authorities were called to the scene of a car wreck Wednesday morning when a man’s car crashed into George’s Gateway.

The man is now accused of being intoxicated at the time of the wreck.

45-year-old David J. Scarritt was initially charged with public intoxication, leaving the scene of an injury accident, fleeing by vehicle, fleeing by foot, disregarding a stop sign and improper headlights.

Police originally received the report of an intoxicated man in the 400 block of 16th Street.

When officers arrived, the man fled in a vehicle.

Authorities later caught up with the vehicle after it jumped a curb, flew over a pair of railroad tracks and crashed into the George's Gateway building.
