Last updated on Monday, May 31, 2010

(BLOOMFIELD, IN) - A 51-year-old Bloomfield man was arrested Thursday afternoon when police responded to an active alarm at a Bloomfield business.

Police say that the alarm turned out to be a false and was accidentally set off by a mail carrier.

As officers waited outside the business for the keyholder to arrive, they noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the air.

After further investigation at the scene, Larry J. Westfall confessed to having smoked a joint earlier and that there were a couple of joints inside his house.

Using a search warrant, officers found two large "bricks" of marijuana inside the house. Westfall was booked in the Greene County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court on Tuesday.
