Boy Misses Over 25 Days Of School, Mother Facing Charges

(LINTON, IN) - A Linton mother has been accused of neglect of a dependent and failure to comply with the compulsory attendance law due to her son’s repeated absences from school.

Laurie Perez was warned by Truancy Officer Debbie McDonald about the matter on May 13th and still failed to comply with the school regulations.

As of April 21st, the boy had missed 27 days with 15 of those days being unexcused.

The boy was also failing three of his five classes.

An arrest warrant has since been issued for Perez.
