Bloomington High School South Teacher Killed In Car Accident

(BLOOMINGTON) - Dennis Shoup, a Language Arts teacher at Bloomington High School South died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash that trapped him inside his white Honda.

Shoup a youth league baseball coach and father of five was pronounced dead at the scene, he was 58.

Accident reconstructionists determined Shoup was driving south on State Road 446 when his car collided with a blue Chevy Blazer traveling north, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported.

One of the vehicles crossed the center line, but police would not say which one.

The cars collided just before 5 pm, and traffic was stopped for two hours in both directions.

The driver of the Blazer was not seriously injured and declined medical attention.
