Bedford Fire Department Recieves $105,000

(BEDFORD, IN) - The Bedford Fire Department was recently awarded a $105,000.

According to Bedford Fire Department Chief Scott Gillespie, the grant will be used in ways that will be beneficial to the public.

Nearly $100,000 came from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Gillespie says that the money will be used to purchase larger hoses, a generator for department headquarters and new rescue equipment.

In addition to the FEMA grant, the department also received $4,000 from the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation which will be used to upgrade the hydraulic connectors on the department's extrication equipment, otherwise known as the 'jaws of life.'
