Doc Hamilton Boulevard Suffers First Fatal Accident

(MITCHELL) - One man was killed in the first accident on the new Doc Hamilton Boulevard in Mitchell.

83 year old Carl Gobin was driving his restored 1968 Chevy pickup south on Rabbitsville Road on Thursday afternoon.

Gobin stopped at the two way stop at the intersection of Rabbitsville Road and Doc Hamilton Boulevard and then proceeded into the path of a fully loaded dump truck being driven by Barry Burton of Mitchell.

Gobin was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where he died on Friday.

Burton was uninjured in the accident.

According to witnesses on scene Burton was traveling at the posted speed limit of thirty miles an hour.
