Bedford Mayor Urging Residents To Complete Census Forms

Last updated on Thursday, April 8, 2010

(BEDFORD, IN) - Every year the federal government distributes more than $400 billion dollars to state and local governments based on the census information which was distributed to Bedford and the surrounding areas in March.

However, says Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis, "a lack of participation can result in our community and nation receiving less federal funding and less access to important services and resources than we might otherwise have received."

In the census taking of 2000, only 68% of households in Bedford returned their census forms by mail and as of Wednesday, 67% of households have mailed back their census forms.

Girgis urges all residents to participate in the census.

If you have not received your census form, you may go the Census Station located at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.
