(BROWNSTOWN, IN) - Former Miss America Katie Stam is going to get what rocker John Mellencamp didn’t: a street named for them in their hometown.
Jackson County commissioners have voted to name County Road 400 East, the road Stam's family lives on, to "Katie Stam Road".
Commissioner John Schafstall says the road's legal name will remain unchanged but additional signs will be put into place honoring Indiana's first Miss America.
The idea to name a road in Seymour in honor of Mellencamp never advanced.
