Parents Raise Concern Over Convicted Child Molester

Last updated on Monday, March 29, 2010

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Some Bloomington residents are concerned about a convicted child molester who is using the services of the Shalom Community Center, inside the First United Methodist Church.

The concern has been raised due to the fact that on the other side of the building is a day care for young children.

Fred Leon Reed spent ten years in prison and some parents like Sara Hamidovic are troubled by his presence.

Director of the day shelter Joel Rekas says he knew reed was on the sex offender list, but that as long as people serve their time, they are treated alike.

The church also has two staff members keeping watch over children when they're out in the fenced in playground and they keep all entrances to the day center locked.
