(MITCHELL, IN) - A 34-year-old Mitchell man lead the Indiana State Police on a car chase over the weekend.

According to Indiana State Police Public Information Sergeant Curt Durnil, several motorists informed police of a possibly intoxicated driver just after 8:30PM Friday night, traveling on State Road 37, south of Harrodsburg Road in Monroe County.

Darren Tegarden was later identified as the driver of the vehicle.

Trooper Dan Cozier later spotted Tegarden's vehicle driving all over the roadway on Dixie Highway near State Road 37.

Police then say that Tegarden refused to stop his vehicle as troopers attempted to pull him over.

Shortly thereafter, he crashed his vehicle on Meridian Road, 2000 feet south of Yockey Road in Lawrence County.

Tegarden suffered unknown injuries in the wreck and was transported by ambulance to Bedford.

He was later air lifted to a Louisville hospital where he remains at this time.

Police say that charges against the driver are pending.

In December of 2009 Tegarden was arrested for domestic battery in the presence of a minor and domestic battery to a minor.
