Miss Vincennes University Appears ABC To Raise Skin Cancer Awareness

Last updated on Thursday, March 25, 2010

(VINCENNES, IN) - Miss Vincennes University Katie Donnar took on national television this morning as part of an awareness of skin cancer.

Donnar appeared on the ABC morning show "Good Morning America."

The segment was taped at Vincennes University.

Donnar was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on her calf a year ago this month.

She had the cancer removed in an early stage.

However, doctors will monitor her to ensure the cancer has not spread.

Donnar and her doctor believe the skin cancer was caused by over-exposure to tanning beds.

Skin cancer awareness will be Donnar's platform during the next year, and during the coming Miss Indiana Pageant.

The winner of Miss Indiana will compete in this fall's Miss America competition.
