Highway Closed When Milk Tanker Crashes

Last updated on Tuesday, March 16, 2010

(UNIONTOWN, IN) - No use crying over spilled milk; or at least that was the mindset for Jackson County emergency crews on Sunday as they cleaned up the scene of a wreck involving a tanker load of milk.

Police say that the wreck snarled traffic on Interstate 65 near Uniontown for nearly six hours.

61-year-old Paul Bird of Battle Creek, Michigan, was driving south when his semi left the road, hit a ditch and struck a line of trees.

The vehicle then rolled onto its side, spilling the entire load of milk.

Bird was treated for minor injuries at the scene and then taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.
