Columbus Auto Company To Lay Off 200 Employees

Last updated on Wednesday, March 3, 2010

(COLUMBUS, IN) - Columbus-based Cummins Engine Plant says it will lay off nearly 200 workers at its mid-range engine plant at the end of the week.

Inside Indiana Business reports the employees were recalled last fall when Chrysler needed more production to restore its inventory.

Cummins says demand from the automaker has now stabilized and the plant will return to only one shift.
