Skateboards, Skates Banned In Brownstown

Last updated on Wednesday, February 3, 2010

(BROWNSTOWN, IN) - Brownstown Council members are restricting the use of skateboards, roller skates, in-line skates and other similar devices.

Council members began discussing the proposed ordinance late in 2009 after skateboards damaged several picnic tables.

If enacted, the ordinance would prohibit the use of skateboards, roller skates, in-line skates in the park and on public streets, including in sidewalks as a means of travel.

The ordinance allows police to confiscate that skates if someone is violating the ordinance and is younger than 18.

The ordinance also calls for a fine of not less than $100.
