Cold Medicine Could Require Prescriptions

Last updated on Wednesday, February 24, 2010

(UNDATED) - Should Indiana make Psuedephedrine a prescription drug to eliminate meth production?

State Health Commissioner Dr. Judy Monroe says its a concept worth study, but she would need to see more data on the effects and consequences.

Psuedephedrine is currently an over-the-counter drug used to relieve cold and allergy symptoms.

Dr. Monroe says a negative effect of higher regulation could be a higher cost to those who might not be able to afford the prescription or the trip to the doctor's office to get it.
