Traffic Stop Leads To Drug-Related Arrest

(COLUMBUS, IN) - An Illinois man was arrested early Tuesday for possession of several bags of marijuana.

Police say that a traffic stop on Interstate 65 resulted in authorities allegedly discovering the bags of marijuana.

27-year-old Lorenzo H. Hicks of Melrose Park, Illinois was pulled over for speeding when officials detected the odor of burnt marijuana, according to the sheriff's department.

At first, a small amount of marijuana was located in a cigar box on the floorboard with a similar amount found in the center console.

Police also discovered seven small individual plastic bags containing marijuana on the driver, according to the sheriff's department.

Hicks was arrested on a preliminary charge of dealing marijuana.
