(UNDATED) - According to gasbuddy.com, average retail gasoline prices in Indiana have risen nearly nine cents per gallon in the past week.
The statewide average is $2.69 for regular unleaded as stations pass along a rise in wholesale prices.
Triple a Hoosier Motor Club Spokesman Greg Seiter says several factors are to blame, including the recent holidays, a spike in crude oil costs and the cold snap gripping much of the country.
Oil prices surpassed $80 per barrel recently, causing some station to charge 85 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
Seiter says overall oil demand dropped in 2009, resulting in excess production of gasoline and other products.
