Indiana Task Force On Standby For Haiti

Last updated on Thursday, January 14, 2010

(UNDATED) - Indiana Task Force one is on standby in case they are called upon in Haiti.

Task Force One Commander Bill Brown says the search and rescue team made up of firefighters, medics and others is now searching its members to see who has passports in case they are called.

Brown says the location of Haiti presents problems for the teams since there are only two ways to get there.

He says the airport will be mobbed with supplies and rescue teams which presents logistical problems.

He says once the teams get on the ground they have many more challenges, such as transporting vehicles over damaged terrain.

He says once teams members are there, they will then try identify structures with the highest probability of having survivors.
