(UNDATED) - One of the nation's most-prized collections of Abraham Lincoln artifacts is getting a big boost from the Lilly Endowment.
A $3 million grant will be used to protect the historic items here in Indiana.
Lincoln Collection Fundraising Campaign Co-Chairman Ian Rolland says the group of Indiana history organizations charged with caring for the materials has raised nearly $7 million of its $12.5 million goal.
Books, letters, photographs, documents and other materials are being held by the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.
Three-dimensional artifacts, fine art, campaign textiles and broadsides, and other selected documents now reside at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.
The initial exhibition of Indiana's Lincoln items opens at the Indiana State Museum February 12th.
