Traffic Fatalities, Lowest Since 1925

Last updated on Thursday, December 31, 2009

(UNDATED) - Indiana State Police say traffic fatalities this year in the state are on pace to be the lowest since 1925.

Preliminary statistics through December 28th show 680 highway deaths, compared to 814 for the same period in 2008.

That marks a more than 16% reduction. However, 2009 is also the first year in which state police issued more than one million traffic citations and written warnings.
