(UNDATED) - The state is ramping up its efforts to ensure an accurate count for the 2010 Census.
Hundreds of complete count committees are being established statewide in a grassroots effort to increase awareness of the census and the importance of completing the questionnaire.
Mark Everson, Chairman of the Indiana Complete Count Committee, says they are working to publicize the census and overcome concerns about participating in it.
Everson says the state is getting more involved with complete count committees, especially to ensure participation by minorities who have historically been under-counted.
Census questionnaires are mailed or delivered to households by mid-March.
The information you provide the Census Bureau should present a snapshot of your household as of April first, Census Day.
Census takers will visit households who do not return the form or file an incomplete form.
Census data is used to allocate federal funds for schools, hospitals, roads, job training and other services.
The data will also influence redistricting of state representative and congressional seats.
