(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - Governor Mitch Daniels says the state will reduce funding to K-12 schools by nearly $300 million in 2010.
The 3.5% cut will be applied evenly to all school corporations using the current funding formula.
Daniels said with half of the state budget allocated to K-12 education, cuts became unavoidable.
Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett insists school districts can find the savings without trimming teaching staff.
