Officer Accused Of Soliciting Prostitute

Last updated on Wednesday, December 9, 2009

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - An Indiana University police employee and Monroe County Reserve Deputy is now facing charges for allegedly soliciting a prostitute.

According to Bloomington Police, Eric Mayo told a young aspiring model that he would take photographs of her for her portfolio.

When the two met last July, Mayo drove her to a parking lot, spoke to her about posing nude for him and then agreed to give the 19-year-old woman a pack of cigarettes and five dollars for a sexual favor.

The woman later contacted police after learning they were investigating a November case in which a 14-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted by a man who claimed to be a modeling agent.

Police do not believe that the two cases are related.

Officials then set up a sting operation in which the woman chatted with Mayo online and had him meet her in a store parking lot.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Mayo has been put on administrative suspension until the investigation is complete.
