Pastor Resigns Position Following Sexual Battery Charges

Last updated on Wednesday, December 2, 2009

(Bloomington, IN) - A Bloomington pastor has resigned from his position following allegations of sexual battery.

Pastor Donald Robinson resigned his position from the Grace Baptist Temple one week before he pleaded guilty to fondling a 13-year-old girl who attended his church and its private school.

57-year-old Robinson pleaded guilty the day before Thanksgiving to felony sexual battery, amended from a more serious charge of child molesting.

A second child molesting charge alleging Robinson fondled an 11-year-old church member and student at Grace Baptist Academy was dismissed.

On Tuesday, Robinson completed his registration on Indiana's Sex and Violent Offender Registry, where his picture, home address, place of employment and the crime he pleaded guilty to will appear there for the next 10 years.

Although Robinson will serve no jail time, he will be on supervised probation for three years and must seek counseling.

The former pastor of a church and school that was founded nearly 50 years ago, has been banned from parks, schools, playgrounds and day care centers and he must get advanced written permission before going to the College Mall, the SportsPlex, YMCA or the Monroe County Public Library.
