Oolitic Home Destroyed By Fire

(EAST OOLITIC, IN) - An East Oolitic home was destroyed by fire earlier this morning.

According to fire officials, Shawswick and Oolitic volunteer fire departments received the call to a two-story dwelling at 54 Mason Street at around 1:15AM this morning.

At one point, more than 20 firefighters were at the scene.

No one was home at the time of the fire despite first reports to the Lawrence County Police Department.

Oolitic Street Department was also on scene because water being used to extinguish the blaze was freezing on the roadway.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Officials say that the fire had spread throughout most of the house upon arrival by emergency crews.

Marshall and Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Departments were also on scene.

The fire is currently under investigation at this time.
