Last updated on Thursday, December 24, 2009

(LINTON, IN) - A rural Linton man who was trapped inside a grain bin in southern Clay County Tuesday night was freed and transported to the hospital after a four-hour rescue operation.

Mike Lacy, who formerly helped coach basketball for the Lakers was discovered inside the grain bin with corn up to his neck.

Nearly 20 farmers, several township fire departments and police stations were at the scene; officials had to occasionally cut holes into the bin to let the corn out.

In the end, several fire fighters had to be treated for exhaustion caused by digging the man out.

Lacy is currently listed in good condition at Regional Hospital.
