Man Arrested In Connection With Murder

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - A 53-year-old Bloomington man died from multiple stab wounds in his home Monday morning.

25-year-old Michael J. Griffin was taken into police custody facing a charge of murder following an investigation into the crime.

Police say that a knife believed to be the murder weapon and a 9 MM handgun were recovered from inside Griffin's residence; his 2-year-old son was also at the house.

Although police have yet to release the man's name at this time, many Indianapolis television stations are reporting that the victim of the fatal shooting was Don Belton an Indiana University Assistant Professor who taught creative writing.

Belton's bio on the Indiana University website lists his past achievements including teaching at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and the University of Pennsylvania.
