Columbus Officer Stabbed; Man Arrested

(COLUMBUS, IN) - A Columbus police officer was stabbed after responding to an argument Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, two officers responded to a property dispute at about 4:40PM to a home located north of the Cummins Engine Plant.

As the police tried to mediate the argument, a struggle broke out with one man pulling a knife and stabbing an officer.

A Lifeline helicopter was initially called to the scene, although at this time the officer is not believed to have sustained any life-threatening injuries.

SWAT team crews were on the scene at around 6:00PM.

The suspect, which had barricaded himself inside a house was removed from the residence at around 7:00PM with the man suffering a gunshot wound to the arm.

38-year old Carl Drucker II was arrested for the crime. Drucker was caught after an extensive search.

Drucker allegedly stabbed one of the officers during an altercation where the officers fired a shot.

He fled and remained on the loose throughout the evening.

The officers injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

He is being treated at Columbus Regional Hospital. Drucker has a gunshot wound to an arm.
