42 ISP Inspectors Losing Their Jobs

Last updated on Tuesday, December 8, 2009

(UNDATED) - 42 inspectors from the Motor Carrier Division of the Indiana State Police are losing their jobs at the end of the year.

The inspectors' last day of work is December 31st. State Police First Sergeant Dave Bursten says the cuts come as a result of Indiana's financial woes.

41 Motor Carrier Inspectors will keep their jobs.

Bursten says they are reassigning some state police personnel to perform inspections and fill the void left by the cuts.

The Motor Carrier Division is responsible for inspecting large trucks and school buses.

The inspectors are civilians who don't carry weapons.
