Police Warning Of Prescription Pill Scam

Last updated on Monday, November 23, 2009

(COLUMBUS, IN) - Authorities say prescription pills were stolen from a Bartholomew County woman’s home by a man who claimed he was taking a survey.

The man came to the 83-year-old woman's door Thursday afternoon, saying he was taking a survey about doctors.

The woman declined to participate, but allowed the man to use her bathroom.

Police say she later realized he had taken some of her prescription pain relievers from her kitchen table.

Authorities say it's never a good idea to let a stranger in your home, even if they ask for simple things like the restroom or a glass of water.
