Police Investigate Pedestrian Hit-And-Run

(SEYMOUR, IN) - Jackson County investigating a hit-and-run incident in which a motorist struck a pedestrian in the Cortland area early Wednesday morning and then left the scene.

28-year-old Robert J. Bell of Seymour was walking east on County Road 800N from Cort Acres when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle; the man was treated for his injuries and released from Schneck Medical Center.

Bell tells police that following the hit-and-run another vehicle stopped by to see if the man needed help.

Police are looking for a Chevrolet or other General Motors vehicle.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff Department at 358-2141.

Police would also like to speak with the motorist who stopped to check on Bell after he was hit.
