Health Commissioner Warns Of Spreading H1N1 During Holiday

Last updated on Thursday, November 26, 2009

(UNDATED) - The holidays are typically the time of year when we spend a lot of time around family and friends.

But is that a good thing when it comes to H1N1?

As we prepare to gather around the table and celebrate thanksgiving, Indiana State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe says the jury is still out.

College students coming home and family members being close together could help increase the spread of the illness.

On the other hand, adults are away from work and kids are away from the classroom, promoting a potential decline.

Monroe is more concerned about air travel, which often places a large amount of people in a confined space for a considerable amount of time.

She says it's important for sick Hoosiers to stay home, rather than put others at risk.
