One Dead Following Car Pile-Up

(PAOLI, IN) - An Orange County man was killed in a 3 vehicle pile up that occurred at around 9:49PM Wednesday night on Valeene Road in Crawford County.

According to the Crawford County Sheriffs Department 39-year-old 17-year-old Gene Simpson, a Junior of Milltown was driving a 1993 Eagle Vision south on Valeene Road and was hit head on by a 1986 Chevy Cavalier Wagon being driven by 47 year old Richard Moore of Orange County.

Police say the Cavalier Wagon appeared to have been left of center.

Following the crash, Simpson pulled himself out of his vehicle.

Once out of the Eagle Vision, a Chevy HHR being driven by 39-year-old Tonya Elliott, came crashing into the already crashed Cavalier Wagon which was broadside in the road.

The Crawford County Coroner pronounced Richard Moore dead at the scene. Simpson was flown by Air-Evac helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital.

The teen was admitted to the intensive care unit with leg fractures and a lacerated spleen.

The crash is still under investigation.
