Last updated on Friday, October 23, 2009

(BEDFORD, IN) - Lawrence County Commissioners on the behalf of South Lawrence Water Utilities plans to apply for a Community Development Block Grant.

The grant, if obtained, would be put towards water storage system improvements and other possible future projects at the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

In order for the county to apply, an anonymous mail survey will be conducted on residents by South Lawrence Water Utilities and the Southern Indiana Development Commission.

The income survey will determine whether or not the area is eligible for the funds.

In a press release issued by the Lawrence County Commissioners, it states "the grant is necessary in order to provide financial assistance needed by the utility..."

The survey will be conducted from October 13th to November 13th.

Anyone with questions concerning the survey should contact Kevin Allen at 812-849-5544 or the Southern Indiana Development Commission at 812-295-3707.
