13-Year-Old Pleads Guilty To Robbery

Last updated on Friday, October 2, 2009

(NASHVILLE, IN) - 13-year-old Blade Reed pleaded guilty today in Brown County Circuit Court to a robbery charge in exchange for the state dropping murder and other charges.

Reed is the younger brother accused as an accomplice in the killing of 84 year-old Richard "Dude" Voland in his Brown County home last November.

Voland's wife, 77 year-old Mary Voland, was also stabbed and survived the incident.

Blade's older brother, 17 year-old Bennie Reed, was sentenced in August to 60 years in prison for murder and aggravated battery.

Prosecutors are checking into the legality of splitting Blade's sentence between juvenile detention and adult prison.

Blade and Bennie Reed are believed to have originally broken into Voland's house to steal alcohol which then lead to the murder.
