Woman Crashes Vehicle Into Gas Station

(BEDFORD, IN) - A Norman woman reportedly fell asleep at the wheel last night while driving on State Road 446 and eventually crashed into a gas station.

The gas station is located at the end State Road 446 where 446 "T's" with US Highway 50.

48-year-old Christine K. Craig of Norman was traveling on State Road 446 at around 10:00PM last night when she crashed into the Farmer's Market Gas Station.

According to police, the woman claimed that she was heading towards the stop sign and may have fallen asleep because she didn't remember anything until after the crash had occured.

The woman was taken to a Bedford hospital suffering cuts to her face and complaining of back pains; according to hospital officials the woman suffered a fractured hip.

Police say that judging by marks on the vehicle's front windshield, the woman's head may have hit the windshield.

It was unclear at the scene, whether or not Craig was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Currently, police are awaiting results from a blood test to see if Craig had any alcohol in her body.

The gas station's concrete and iron-rod walls in which the vehicle crashed into have been since been boarded up.
