Serial Bank Robber Caught By State Trooper

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - A suspected serial bank robber who reportedly robbed a bank in Bloomington last month was captured Saturday by state troopers in Missouri.

37-year-old Chad E. Schaffner is accused of robbing banks in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

In a robbery at a Bloomington bank, Schaffner is believed to be the prime suspect for the armed robbery.

Schaffner's crimes eventually put his face on billboards across the country in an attempt by America's most wanted to catch the man.

The man was discovered at a Missouri hotel after a a former state trooper recognized him from America's Most Wanted.

The man is being held on felony warrants for bank robbery, burglary, armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

It is unknown how much money the man had obtained during his ventures.
