Residents Protest Against Government Healthcare

Last updated on Thursday, August 13, 2009

(GREENE COUNTY, IN) - Several Greene County residents are protesting against the proposed federal government healthcare plan as well as the Cap and Trade energy legislation.

Rita Weddle, of Hymera, held up a large sign toward passing vehicles reading, "Help Stop Government Run Health Care, Stop Cap and Trade Attack on Coal!"

The group of protesters estimated that more than 100 people stopped by the park, in which the group was protesting, to sign a petition.

After voicing their opinions to a local newspaper, the group stated that the petitions will be forwarded to 8th District U.S. Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN) as well as U.S. Sens. Richard Lugar (R-IN) and Evan Bayh (D-IN).
