(SOUTHERN INDIANA) - The national weather service in Indianapolis has issued a flood warning for the East fork white river.
Major flooding developed Wednesday night along the east fork white river in the Seymour area.
Early this morning the river was cresting in Seymour, about 1/2 feet lower than the flood of June 2008.
Major flooding is expected to occur today in southwestern Jackson County along the East Fork White and Muscatatuck rivers.
Flood levels could reportedly approach those seen during June 2008.
As the flood moves into Lawrence County today, significant flooding may develop in the Fort Ritner area.
Flooding in the Fort Ritner area may also approach that of June 2008.
Extensive flooding may occur in the Rivervale, Bedford, Williams and Shoals areas Friday night, Saturday and Sunday with flood levels possible reaching 2 to 3 feet higher
than those seen this past May.
Flooding in Jackson County affected numerous local and several state highways.
Residential flooding is reported to be likely in the Wheeler Hollow area and possibly in the Medora area.
