Woman Cited For Leaving Scene Of Wreck

(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - Sunday afternoon, a 25-year-old woman was cited for leaving the scene of a wreck, the scene being the Lawrence County Sheriff’s department.

After getting a large soda from a nearby gas station, the driver was heading down I street on the Bedford square, towards the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

She claimed that she spilt her drink in her lap, and in an attempt to avoid any further spilling, bent down to pick it up.

She swerved off of the roadway and crashed her Jeep into a light pole, causing the pole to fall into the roadway.

Witnesses of the incident said that the driver and the passenger got out of the car a removed the light pole from the streets and then went on their way.

After police searched for the vehicle, looking for a specific license plate number, they located the car at the owners house.

The driver claimed that she was planning on informing police officials of the wreck, once she got home.

She was cited for leaving the scene of a wreck.
