(BLOOMINGTON) - The city of Bloomington sanitation department reminds residents that television sets discarded following the June 12 conversion to an all-digital signal will not be picked up as part of weekly trash services.
Residents who wish to dispose of old television sets following the switch to an all-digital signal may dispose of their televisions in a few different ways.
First of all if your TV is under 32 inches you can take it to the Best Buy store located on 3rd Street, or drop it off at the Monroe County Hazardous Materials Facility located on South Walnut.
Residents should also consider donating functional television sets to second hand stores and charities.
Federal legislation passed by congress late last year authorized the switch to a universal digital signal, making televisions still running on the traditional analog system obsolete.
The original deadline, set for February of this year, was extended to this Friday June 12th.
