Argument Over Dogs Leaves Man Dead, Son Arrested

Last updated on Monday, May 4, 2009

(CROTHERSVILLE) - A rural Jackson County man is dead and his son is in custody after a fight over dogs.

The Seymour Tribune reports Jackson County deputies arrived at the home of 48-year-old John Shoultz of Crothersville, where he was found shot to death.

Shortly after, 20-year-old John Shoultz III and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Andrea Howard of Crothersville were pulled over on US-50 near North Vernon, and taken into custody.

The paper says at one point during the argument over dogs in the house, the older Shoultz grabbed a straight razor and entered the bedroom where his son was, and that's when things went south.

Shoultz is currently charged with murder and Howard is charged with assisting a criminal.
