Lawrence County Still Working With Illinois Cops On Meth Case

Last updated on Wednesday, April 8, 2009

(SPRINGVILLE) - The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to work with police in the city of Paris, Illinois and it’s associated Edgar County in the case of a couple from Springville being picked up there on meth-related charges.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News he is waiting to hear from Lawrence County Prosecutor Michelle Woodward as to local charges relating to the meth lab, marijuana plants, guns and paraphernalia found in their Sieboldt Quarry Road home, and as to whether or not she will choose to pursue extradition.

35-year-old Paxton Davis and 31-year-old Michelle Gerkin were both picked up for allegedly attempting to purchase meth precursors in Paris, Illninois.

Little known facts, about Paris: not only is it the current (temporary) of Davis and Gerkin, it's also the real-life home town of Carl Dean Switzer, better known as "Alfalfa" from the Our Gang short film series of the 1920s and 30s, and the fictional home of a pen-pal for Uncle Fester on a 1965 episode of the TV hit show The Addams Family.
