(BLOOMINGTON) - A memorandum of agreement will become official Tuesday that formalizes a partnership between IU and the Indiana National Guard.
The goal of the partnership is to provide specialized training for civilian and military personnel to assist them as they head into overseas missions.
IU staff will be providing educational courses in the culture, history, politics, religions and languages of Afghanistan, Kosovo and other parts of the world.
IU Assistant Director of the Center on American and Global Security, Kirk White says the university's extensive resources in strategic languages will especially come in handy for military personal.
Classes are currently ongoing at the National Guard's Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh.
