(BIRDSEYE) - State police from the Jasper District picked up a Birdseye man who they allege was involved in the molestation of a child.

State Police Sgt. Chad Dick says his post was called in by the Department of Family and Children about a complaint that involved 20-year-old Steven Tempel of Birdseye and a 5-year-old female.

Police investigated the complaint and eventually found enough probable cause to take Tempel into custody.

Tempel was lodged in the Dubois County jail facing felony charges of child molestation and vicarious sexual gratification by fondling in the presence of a minor.
