(BEDFORD) - Bedford police radios went out during yesterday's storms.
Bedford police dispatchers told WBIW News this morning they momentarily lost radio communication throughout the entire system right after they set off the tornado sirens yesterday, and that the new 800MHz digital system has been a bit buggy in general.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News yesterday's storms caused "real problems," and, just like any new and complex system, it has had its fair share of glitches. Parsley says they have been in contact with ECS, the company that handles Bedford's new digital system, and they haven't yet been able to track down the cause of yesterday's brief outage.
Other glitches, the chief says, have been repaired in due course, however, he said he would not tolerate problems that completely knock out communications.
