Trash Fire Catches Wooded Area On Fire Near Springville

Last updated on Tuesday, March 24, 2009

(SPRINGVILLE) - A trash fire that got out of hand ended up burning about 4 acres of woods and another acre of pasture near Springville.

Marshall Township Firefighter Mike Pennington tells WBIW News crews were called to a home on IN-54 around 1:00pm yesterday afternoon where wind picked up a controlled fire and blew it into a wooded area.

Pennington says it took 3 trucks and about 6 men between the Marshall and Perry Township Volunteer Fire Departments to put out the blaze that consumed several trees as well as plenty of dry brush and grass.

Pennington says it was fortunate they got the fire out when they did as well, since right as they were finishing the wind really picked up.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
